Albany police say a teenager wanted for murder in South Carolina may have been involved in some crimes in the Capital Region.

Dashawn Muldrow of Albany turned himself in to Albany police at the central station Wednesday morning. According to police, the 17-year-old was wanted in connection with a homicide in Columbia, S.C.

Columbia police say Muldrow was one of three men who broken into a home, shooting a woman and assaulting a man before escaping. The woman later died at the hospital.

In May, Albany police say Muldrow broke into homes on Yates and Partridge streets. He is facing burglary and larceny for those alleged crimes.

Muldrow is currently at the Albany County Jail.

"Following their incident and learning that the suspect had ties to the city of Albany, they had conversations with our detectives here," said Steve Smith, spokesman for the Albany Police Department. "And as with any investigation, either here locally or in other states, we try to assist the best we can."

Columbia police say they're making arrangements to extradite Muldrow to South Carolina. Once returned, police say he will be facing several charges including murder, attempted murder, and armed robbery.
