It’s something we almost never see and Burnt Hills Head Coach Matt Shell told me at the half “I’ve never been a part of something like that.”

Now that I’ve built it up a little bit, here’s what I’m talking about. Queensbury possessed the ball entire first quarter and didn't score. They punched it in the first play of the second quarter.  That’s exactly what Queensbury football is with the double-wing. It’s methodical drives.  At that point, you thought this will be a low scoring game. Whoever has the ball last will win.  As a matter of fact it looked that way at the half with Queensbury up 14-8.

Second half, not so much.

Each team scored a quickly, but Queensbury never lost the lead and then it became a little bit of the Liam O’Mara show.  He scored every point for Queensbury between touchdowns and 2-point conversions.  Six rushing touchdowns is a new Queensbury single game record.  Earlier in the week O’Mara made it clear that he wanted this game because Burnt Hills had knocked them out of the playoffs the last two seasons.  After the game he reiterated that saying “I’ve never beat them on the football field, so that just means so much to me and I always come out with a chip on my shoulder.”

So, there’s a decent chance we could see these two meet up in the Sectional Championship. Queensbury could absolutely win again, but it won’t be 42-21.  Matt Shell is too good of a coach to let his team get doubled up again. Credit to Queensbury they dominated and were beyond impressive.

Double-wing isn’t something we see too often, but the Spartans ran it to perfection tonight.  It takes buy in for sure and these guys have bought in.
