A Troy building has been demolished following a weekend collapse.

On Saturday, what was once the Uncle Sam of Troy Post 6780 VFW on Burden Avenue collapsed, and Monday afternoon the rest of the structure was taken down.

The building is attached to the now-closed South End Tavern, which served the Troy community for decades before closing in 2013.

Fortunately, the tavern wasn't affected by the collapse and was not part of Monday’s demolition.

A former South End Tavern employee tells spectrum news the demolished building was also used as a can and bottle recycling center for a time.
