CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. -- The state Department of Transportation is proposing to build a roundabout at the intersection of Route 146 and Route 146A in Clifton Park.

Dozens of residents attended an open house Thursday night to learn more about the project. The $2.7 million project also calls for a new multi-use path west of the intersection along eastbound of Route 146.

DOT spokesman Bryan Viggiani compares this proposal to the Rexford Bridge roundabout.

“Folks were getting was about 15 to 22 minutes delay to get across that bridge," Viggiani said. "Now they’re getting it across in three. Three minutes. So the improvements right there just around the corner at the roundabout just south of the Rexford Bridge, the roundabout there speaks for itself in terms of motorist efficiency."

He says state and federal funding will cover a majority of the cost. Construction is expected to begin this spring.
