Martha Mallon is passionate about horses and helping, so when she's not at her full time job, she's at Victoria Acres, an equine facility that provides horse therapy for children and adults with special needs.

"We've seen kids learn to string words together, learn their shapes and colors," said Mallon, a therapeutic riding instructor. "It's endless what we can do."

Eric Tooker usually suffers from migraines and other physical disabilities, but when he's with his horse, troubles seem to trot away.

"This is the most important thing for my son," said Mandi, Eric's mother. "He comes here and smiles from ear to ear. He just loves to be here."

Now Victoria Acres is looking to raise enough money to give the program a permanent home and to add a much-needed indoor arena.

"When it rains, we can't ride. When it snows, we can't ride," Mallon said, "so having an indoor riding arena would erase all those issues."

In addition to an enclosed arena, Victoria Acres is looking to add to its stable family. Many of the horses here have been donated.

"As our client list grows, we need more horses so we don't overwork the ones we have," Mallon said.

Fundraisers are approximately $8,000 away from their goal. They are hoping people will donate through their website.
