ALBANY, N.Y. — If there’s any academic subject that proves learning can be fun, it's science.

On Saturday the evidence for that was on full display during the 9th annual Back To School Expo at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center.

Kids of all ages had the opportunity to experience science in a non-traditional way, by participating in hands-on, interactive activities.

Dozens and dozens of exhibitors, from locals schools to museums, were all part of Saturday’s event which organizers say is the perfect combination of fun and education.

“It's great for the kids who really get to experience it in a nontraditional, non-intimidating environment so they don’t even realize they’re stepping into the world of science they’re just doing fun kids hands on activities," said Eileen Handelman, an event promoter with Capital Affairs. "They say especially with girls if you haven’t exposed them earlier on by the time they’re in 8th grade we lose them, and all the jobs of the future are in stem-related fields.”
