In Saratoga County, District Attorney Karen Heggen won her primary race.

She was challenged on the Republican ballot line by Gerard Amedio.

Amedio highlighted his experience as a police officer and as a defense attorney, while Heggen relied on her experience.

She has served as part of the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office since 1993 -- in a number of different roles including as an assistant district attorney and chief trial assistant district attorney.

In a statement, Heggen said:

"I'm honored to have the support of the citizens of Saratoga County so that I will be able to continue the work I do each and every day with my amazing team of men and women who work tirelessly with our great law enforcement partners to keep Saratoga County safe. "

And in the Rensselaer County District Attorney primary, Joel Abelove lost his race for the Independence Party.

Abelove won the Independence Party's endorsement, but lost the vote to Mary Pat Donnelly.

But Abelove will still be on the November ballot -- he's running on the Republican line.
