After a report finding there's an increase in people applying to the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund, Gov. Andrew Cuomo is looking for Congress to maintain full funding for victims of the terrorist attacks.

The governor says originally compensated injuries and deaths caused by the terrorist attacks, but was reopened in 2011 to help first responders and people who were made sick after the response.

Already, $4.3 billion has been awarded to those eligible, but Cuomo says there have been suggestions to "dilute compensation" to the next round of applicants.

"While significant funding is still available, it is critical that full funding is available for all who need it in the years to come, and I call on Congress to renew and expand the program. In New York, we will always stand with the victims of the attacks," he said.
