TROY, N.Y. -- School is all about learning, and this year it’s not just for the human students.

"She’s going to be walking the halls, and going to events and being part of the community," said Laureen Beach, from Catholic Central High School.

Just like the students who have their whole life and career ahead of them, Brenna also has a couple career options.

“The main goal is for her to be a guide dog so she can help a visually impaired person. If that doesn’t seem to be suited for her, she could possibly go into breeding and produce other lovely dogs like her, or she could get into sniffing and work with police, which is a good option for her too," said Beach.

The school provides a great training ground for Brenna as she acclimates to all sorts of new environments.

“A lot of the training we do is just socially opening up all the doors for her to what the world is around her, so when she is with a visually impaired person, she can go in and be familiar with different situations and here there is a lot of different situations," said Beach.

Brenna will stay with the school throughout the school year and then she’ll be off to formal guide dog training at the end of the year.
