COLUMBIA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A member of President Donald Trump's cabinet making a stop in the area. The Secretary of Agriculture visited two Columbia County farms on Thursday.

Sonny Perdue's first stop was Altobelli Family Farm. He then held a round-table discussion at Dutch Hollow Farm with dairy farmers.

Despite farmer's concerns on tariffs, Perdue says he stands by the president's decision.

“It’s never fun on the front end," Perdue said. "But when you’re healthier, you’re better, that’s President Trump’s goal is to get agriculture and all of the American industries healthier in a free and fair trade environment.”

Perdue also says more details on the $12 billion U.S.D.A. farmer's relief aid will be unveiled on Monday.
