Gruesome new details were unraveled Wednesday in the disturbing case of a child’s body being found outside a State Street apartment.

According to court documents, 38-year-old Heaven Puleski allegedly concealed her infant son’s body in a plastic bag and hid it an overgrown grassy area last month.

Schenectady police have charged Puleski in connection with the disappearance of her 4-month-old son, Rayen.

Puleski was formally charged with three counts Wednesday, including concealment of a human corpse, in connection with a body, consistent with that of a child, found last Thursday behind a State Street home. The prosecution is confident that child is 4-month-old Rayen Puleski, though an autopsy is still being conducted.

“Our presumption at this point that the remains found were Rayen’s. That’s our presumption at this point based on the investigation," said Assistant District Attorney Christina Tremante.

It’s an investigation that began last week when family asked police for a welfare check.

Days later, the remains of a body were found, and now following conversations she had with police and the FBI, Puleski is charged with concealment of a human corpse, tampering with physical evidence and endangering the welfare of a child.

The condition the body was in is making it difficult for investigators to determine a positive ID.

Bond was set at $20,000 cash, $40,000 bond. Puleski's next court appearance is scheduled for August 20. Puleski pleaded not guilty to her misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child, but could not plead to the felony charges.
