Farmers and their families remain concerned as milk prices are below the cost of production for the fourth straight year.

Monday, farmers from the Northeast and beyond are gathering at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center, discussing ways to address their financial stress.

The fluctuation of milk prices is nothing new, but there used to be significant price recovery about every three years. That's no longer the case, and it's making it difficult for dairy farmers to stay in business.

Agrimark Chairman and Reafield Farm owner Neal Rea says farmers and industry leaders have realized that this is a national issue, so that's why they're coming together with experts from all over to try and tackle this ongoing dairy-price issue.

"We call our dairy industry a food industry. It's food for the American people," Rea said. "We realize the value of dairy products through our promotion organizations to the nutrional values of the U.S. people."
