ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- We had more scattered storms Tuesday than Monday, and they still moved west toward the Gulf, but at a slower pace.
- Rain chances increase later this week
- High pressure will give an earlier start for storms
Skies will clear overnight with Wednesday morning lows in the low 70s inland and upper 70s at the coast.
Wednesday will start sunny with a partly cloudy afternoon. Scattered storms will start around midday as the sea breeze comes in from the Gulf. They will then drift and propagate inland through the afternoon to evening.
That will be different compared to the past few days when they were moving west into the Gulf. The coverage will be up a bit to 40 percent.

Thursday will then see a slight dip to 30 percent coverage of scattered storms as slightly drier air slides back in from the west. That combined with a stronger west wind will push the best coverage of storms to the other side of the state that day.
Expect increasing moisture this weekend with rain chances increasing into the 50 percent coverage range.
