SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — City Hall in Schenectady was evacuated Tuesday morning due to a bomb threat.

Police say that due to a letter sent to the county building, multiple buildings in downtown Schenectady were closed as a precaution. The list includes the county office, the county library, City Hall, city court and all city buildings.

Police say the letter was discovered around 9:30 a.m. and had writing that hinted at a bomb. According to the Schenectady police spokesman, Sgt. Matt Dearing: "Due to the vague nature of it, there's several addresses that need to be checked for everyone's safety."

Police used K-9 units from Schenectady, state police and surrounding counties to sniff out any potential explosives.

Most of the city and county workers were able to return back to work by noon after their buildings were cleared.
