GLENVILLE, N.Y. — The Glenville town supervisor says they're exploring other options, hoping to address some of the concerns from residents living near a proposed shooting range.

At Wednesday's board meeting, Christ Koetzle says in addition to examining other sites, the town is looking into funding for an indoor shooting range, but that's unlikely.

Koetzle and some of the board members have met with residents living near the Barhydt Road site. Residents are asking board members to reconsider the proposal.

"You need to see how close the homes will be to the gun range, how loud the sounds of gunfire is, and the topography of the land," said Krista Hawk, who lives on Barhydt Road.

"We're listening to the residents and we're trying to react and accommodate to the concerns," Koetzle said.

The proposal is currently going through the State Environmental Quality Review process.

The town board is expected to vote on a resolution exempting the project from the zoning code at next month's meeting. That vote was originally taking place at Wednesday's meeting but was postponed due to the absence of a board member.
