In an effort to curb the recent increase in violence in Albany, Governor Andrew Cuomo is reportedly sending more state troopers to the city to help with the issue.

Cuomo recently met with high-ranking county and city leaders, including representatives from the Albany County District Attorney's Office and Mayor Kathy Sheehan.

A source with knowledge of the meeting confirms there will be more troopers in Albany and that the move has been under discussion for about a year, but those discussions have stepped up since the recent violence.

It’s not known what specifically the troopers will do.
