It has been one year since a fire on Albany's Madison Avenue burned across five row houses, displacing more than a dozen people. The impact of the fire is still being felt today.

An entire lot on Madison now sits empty, as four of the row houses were demolished following the fire.

Dan Atkins' business, the Savoy Taproom, turned into a place to raise money and necessities for the victims. Hatkins is also the chairman of the Lark Street Business Improvement District.

"They don’t have a place to sleep. They don’t have any clothes left," Atkins said. "The pictures, the memorabilia, is devastating, but just all the basic pieces. It was nice to have a central place."

Atkins says the land is now being looked at as a place for new residences. He said two of the properties on the lot have been sold, but nothing concrete is in the works just yet. The building next door to the fire that was damaged has been fixed and is currently on the market.
