The Pine Tree Rifle Club of Johnstown has donated $10,000 to the Fulton County Sheriff's K-9 unit. In total, they’ve raised more than $82,000 over the last nine years as part of their motorcycle ride for K-9s.

Some may not know that all K-9 expenses are funded by the community -- including purchasing the dog, training, food and medical care. Members of the department say the dogs are a valuable tool.

“He's the best partner in the world. Dogs are an unbelievable tool. Their noses are a lot stronger than ours are, and their senses are a lot better. It's all about just being able to read in them and trust them,” said Deputy Damon Stewart.

The county is looking to grow its K-9 unit. If you'd like to donate, you can participate in the latest raffle by calling the Fulton County Sheriff's Office at (518) 736-2100.
