TAMPA, Fla. -- A young boy was hospitalized in critical condition after he was found unconscious in a pool Wednesday morning.

Tampa Police said the incident happened at Ashford Place Apartments.
The boy, identified as 9-year-old Jachoix Racyne, was spotted at the bottom of the pool just before 11:30 a.m., according to police. He was pulled out of the pool and officers performed CPR until Tampa Fire Rescue arrived.
Racyne, who lives at the apartment complex, was left in the care of his grandfather while his mother was at work. The grandfather was inside the apartment while Racyne was outside playing, according to investigators.
Racyne was transported to Florida Hospital on Fletcher Avenue and later transferred to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital for treatment. As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, he remains in critical condition.
While the apartment complex does have a sign posted stating "Swim at your own risk" and "No one under the age of 18 should be here without an adult," one resident we spoke to said children swim in the pool unattended all the time.
"Kids that don't live here they come in, there's no monitoring, there's nothing," said Anita Rust. "Everybody stays to themselves, no one wants to get involved."
"Someone's going to drown, and I don't even know how I feel," she added.
Residents also told us they've had concerns about the pool being too easy to access in the past.
"Yeah, I've already made a complaint about there was no gate," said resident Stephanie Carter. "There hasn't been a gate since I moved in and I've been here since Dec. 9 ... but you know, there's kids always through the apartment complex running around, so that should have definitely been a main priority."
No one from the apartment complex was available after hours to comment for this story.
Initially, police could not locate Racyne's family members. However, his mother was found and informed of the situation Wednesday afternoon.
