The body of a retired Niskayuna High School teacher has been recovered from a lake in Vermont.

Vermont State Police say Thomas Flood of Schenectady fell into the water while boating in Lake St. Catherine Thursday afternoon.

Investigators say Flood and his wife were stepping off the boat to sit in tubes tethered to the boat when he slipped into the water. He was not wearing a life jacket, we’re told. Vermont State Police say it was windy and the water was choppy.

Several agencies were called to the area to assist in the search.

Friday, members of the Vermont State Police Dive Team located and recovered Flood’s body in the town of Poultney. An investigation is continuing.
