ALBANY, N.Y.-- The city held a ribbon cutting celebration for Orange Street Park. An accessible play ground that turned this pocket park into a supercharged play area. Many parents glad to see it in their back yard.

One parent said, "We are local residents in community happy to see something positive."

According to Brie Martinez the playgrounds designers, kids need to have at least an hour of physical activity. She says unique swing, interactive jungle gym, and spinning chairs catches kids attention and keeps them engaged.

"Were seeing the kids stay and play longer and come back more often," said Playground Designer Brie Martinez

This one of six parks already opened throughout Albany and the city has plans for six more.

The Mayor says these parks go along way to revitalizing the community.

"We cant solve every problem overnight but we can start by looking at what we have control over like our parks," said Mayor Kathy Sheehan. "This is going to allow them to get fit and more importantly make friends in the neighborhood."
