Team USA may not be playing in it this year, but World Cup fever has reached the Capital Region.

Hundreds of soccer fans celebrated the sport’s biggest tournament this Father's Day, gathering at Wolff’s Biergarten in Albany to take in the spectacle.

Since 2010, Wolff's Biergarten has been the place to be for big soccer games.

It's a place for old friends to meet and enjoy some soccer, or for strangers to become new friends, bonding over a common love.

“Since 2010, the first World Cup we've been open, everyone’s automatically thought this is the hot spot for soccer and they know it’s going to be a good atmosphere, it’s going to be a friendly atmosphere down here and everyone’s going to have a good time and make new friends," said Sam Leamy, bar manager at Wolff's Biergarten.

It's expected to be a busy and booming month for the bar, with the World Cup running until mid-July.
