BERNE, N.Y. -- Seniors at Berne-Knox-Westerlo are using a "prank" in order to benefit one of their peers.
On Thursday morning, students had a cookout and sold burgers, hot dogs, and pizza all before school to help Amy, a senior battling cancer. They even asked for donations from teachers and staff for parking.
"Everybody is really close, and it's just important to give back," said Slade Pulliam, a senior.
"We weren't surprised at all that they wanted to take something like a senior prank and make it a selfish act," said Lindsay Zayachek, the senior class advisor.
By the end of the day, students had raised more than $1,700.
