RAVENA, N.Y. -- New information has been released about a fire inside a multi-family home overnight in Ravena.

Five people were inside 211 Main Street when the fire broke out just before 3 a.m. Thursday morning.

Everyone was able to get out, but they had to think fast because flames blocked their only exit.

Firefighters say they had to use a rescue ladder to escape.

"First time I've seen one utilized in 50 years and that made the difference for them getting out of the building,” said Bill Bailey, with the Ravena Fire Department.

One person was brought to the hospital for unknown injuries.

Neighbors say George Washington once slept at the house.
