Senate Democrats on Wednesday continue to push for measures that are meant to strengthen abortion rights in New York.
One bill would codify the Roe v. Wade decision in state law.
Another would expand access to contraceptives. The measures have stalled in the Republican-led state Senate for the last several years. Now what Democratic lawmakers plan to do Wednesday is attach the legislation as amendments, forcing votes on the issues. They are expected to fail, but the point is to at the very least draw attention to the issue of abortion rights,
Which of course is a key one for the Democratic base.
