A car wash employee is recovering after an Albany police K9 bit him Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say the incident happened when the K9 handler took his marked patrol unit to the Golden Arrow Car Wash on Central Avenue.

An employee opened the door to the vehicle to let the dog out -- when officials say a second employee startled the dog and was bit in the left arm.

The employee was treated for two puncture wounds at Albany Medical Center and released.

The dog will undergo an outside agency evaluation -- per department policy.
