After 34 years, the Saratoga Springs gun show made its final run at the Saratoga Springs City Center.

This weekend's show was the last, after a unanimous vote by the city council in March to ban the sale of firearms and ammunition at the city center.

Some residents in Saratoga Springs have opposed the decision, but the council cited recent gun violence in schools in its decision.

The show first began in 1984, and has been a hallmark of Memorial Day weekend in the Spa City.

"We never had an incident in 101 shows,” said Joe Albano, owner of Joe’s Sports Center. “Now they're chasing us out like dogs.

"It's not the gun that's an issue. it's the mental health. Every time somebody does something wrong with a gun, they boil it down to taking my rights and your rights away."

"There's a lot of things going on here, not just buying guns," said David Petronis, gun show organizer. "Our show is like a piece of history."

Sunday was the final day of the show.
