The 2018 Tulip Queen, Sawyer Cresap was crowned Saturday afternoon.

Along with the members of her tulip court, Cresap will work on literacy and charity initiatives throughout Albany for the next year.

Tulipfest returned this weekend for the 70th year, continuing one of Albany's most beloved traditions.

Organizers say more than 140,000 tulips in 150 different varieties are blooming right now.

Cresap will make her first formal appearance as Tulip Queen Saturday night at 6:30 for the Tulip Ball.

"I'm so excited to be this year’s Tulip Festival, Albany Tulip Queen, and to work with four amazing young women on the Albany Tulip Court, to be ambassadors for the city, to attend all of the events that make our city so special, and to meet the community members that bring it to life,” said Cresap.
