Calling hours were held Wednesday for Albany Police Detective Jason Martin, who died last week after a battle with cancer.

Family, friends and fellow officers gathered at the Palace Theatre to pay their respects to Martin, 45, who was a 12-year veteran of the Albany PD.

Acting chief Robert Sears said Martin loved being an Albany police officer and always served residents with distinction, pride and the highest level of integrity. Sears also said Martin was a lifelong Albany resident who was respected by member of the community and his peers.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church in Albany. Martin leaves behind a wife and two children.
