ALBANY, N.Y. -- Hundreds of UAlbany students showed solidarity for victims of sexual assault on Thursday.

An assembly line was set up to fill bags with stuffed animals, clothing, toiletries, and gift cards for kits aimed at helping victims recover. Students then packed those kits into ambulances, which headed to Albany Medical Center to be given to assault victims recovering at the hospital.

The event was also a venue for advocacy groups and resource centers to raise awareness.

“We know that statistics are saying to us that there are people here statistically that have been impacted by sexual violence,” said UAlbany Advocacy Center for Sexual Violence Assistant Director Mary McCarthy.

This is the fourth year they've held the event.
