Officials in the Collar City honor the life and legacy of Bill Chamberlain Saturday with a special dedication ceremony.

Riverfront Park has been dedicated in the memory of the city's former Director of Operations. Chamberlain was killed in 2015 after being stabbed in the back 20 times.

The park and portion of Front Street will be dedicated as William D. Chamberlain Riverfront Park and Chamberlain Way in recognition of his life and three decade career serving the greater Troy community.

A dedication committee raised nearly $4,000 from local donors to cover costs associated with the ceremony, including the design and production of memorial signs that will be placed throughout the park.

"There’s so many friends, so many stories, to dedicate this park in his honor so close to the old city hall, he really cared about the city and he cared about everyone in the city. This is a very fitting tribute to him,” said former Troy Mayor Harry Tutunjian.

Last year, Joseph Vandenburgh, the man convicted of killing Chamberlain, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
