Our weather looks great for the next few days, but we should all keep a close eye on Sunday's forecast.

From Friday through Saturday, a storm system will likely produce severe storms from Texas to Alabama and Tennessee. That same system will move through the Carolinas Sunday afternoon and night.

The threat for severe weather here in North Carolina will partly be determined by low pressure forming along a front sweeping through the state around that time.  If enough sunshine breaks out early in the day Sunday, that low could meet up with an unstable atmosphere over the region resulting in severe storms starting in the afternoon and continuing well into the night.

The greatest threat from any strong storms would likely come from torrential downpours, damaging wind gusts, and lightning.  However, this type of weather setup could also bring the threat for tornadoes.

As we get closer to the weekend, the specifics of Sunday's forecast will become more certain. We'll be able to provide a more detailed look at any severe weather threat for Sunday by Saturday.
