The mother of a Ballston Spa teen who went missing 20 years ago is honored as part of Missing Persons Day at the state museum in Albany.

On March 2nd, 1998, Suzanne Lyall was last seen getting off a bus at the University of Albany. Her case is now viewed as a suspected homicide.

Senator Jim Tedisco presented the New York State Senate Liberty Medal to Suzanne's mother, Mary, on Saturday in recognition for her work to help others still looking for their missing loved ones through her organization, the Center for Hope.

Tedicsco says the day is a good reminder for the community.

"Suzanne Lyall is missing, does anyone know anything?” said Tedicsco. “Can anyone's mind be jarred from that day, and the same with your family members across the state. So by passing that resolution every year and by having a particular day, by having the memorial, by continuing to get exposure and getting those messages and pictures out there, we have a chance."

Tedisco sponsored "Suzanne's Law" which increases penalties for assaults and abductions on school grounds. The legislation passed the state senate last month.
