For children with autism, experiencing the Via Aquarium in Rotterdam on an average day can be overwhelming for their senses.

That's why the aquarium, along with Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara is holding the 2nd annual Autism Day in honor of autism awareness month.

"We just want to bring the aquarium to those who couldn't really see it on a normal basis like others can," said Alan Fanitzi with Via Aquarium

Families affected by autism can explore the aquarium for free on Sunday from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

The lights will be turned up and no music will be played.

"Making these accommodations opens up more opportunities for families being able to participate in an event like the aquarium," said Santabarbara

To attend the free event you have to sign up on Assemblyman Santabarbara's website
