The YWCA of the Greater Capital Region celebrated the accomplishments of five graduates from the Jamison Rounds Ready for Work Program.

It's a 12 week, Monday through Friday program, run three times throughout the year at the Troy-based YWCA.

Attendees learn skills necessary for economic and personal success, including cover letter and resume building and computer literacy.

The program is customized meet people's needs, with many participants impacted by domestic violence and homelessness and face challenges with childcare.

Local partners also provide professional workshops during the program.

"They give you skills that you would need to maintain and survive in order to provide a decent home for you and your family,” said 2008 graduate of the program Ejah Gay.

"It's always a good, overwhelming feeling you know it's emotional to see and know what a lot of women have been through, and the decision that they make, the commitment that they make in order to be a part of this program,” said Executive Director of the YWCA Daquetta Jones.

The YWCA of the Greater Capital Region provides a number of other supportive programs, as well as offering supportive housing to women and children seeking assistance.
