Siena College has confirmed that the school is investigating activity on the men's basketball program.

According to a report first published in the Albany Times Union, the investigation comes amid reports that head coach Jimmy Patsos verbally berated a student with a mental disorder.

A spokeswoman for Siena College would not go into detail about the investigation, but did say that "information has surfaced that requires deeper examination."

Additionally, two sources close to the program tell Spectrum News' sports department that Patsos had team managers thrown off the bus ahead of an away game earlier this year. Those managers, according to the sources, then had to walk to the game. It's unclear if that has anything to do with this investigation.

The athletic department and the coach sent mixed messages Thursday, just hours after the college confirmed that it had launched an investigation into the program.

Patsos tells Sports Director Marisa Jacques that he will hold a news conference Friday at 4 p.m. to address those allegations. However, if Patsos has plans to address the issue, the athletic department is not involved. They say they have no press conference scheduled for tomorrow.

Patsos has been Siena's head coach since the 2013-14 season. The Saints finished 8-24 this season, falling to Quinnipiac in the first round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament.
