As the winds picked up Wednesday night, trees and power lines began to come down in the Capital Region.

Rensselaer, Saratoga and Washington counties were the hardest hit, with National Grid, reporting customers without power in each county.

A section of Burgoyne Avenue in Hudson Falls was closed due to downed power lines.

Strong winds even knocked a tree onto a house. The homeowner said she was eating dinner with her family when they heard the tree crash down. Around the same time, another tree came down on a house on Parry Street.

Because of the winds, it was a busy night for tree removal companies -- one saying it received more than a dozen calls.

A high wind warning remained in effect until 5 a.m. Thursday.
