OKLAHOMA — An inspirational little boy from Oklahoma is making headlines for a second time around — This time, with his new cat friend.

Madden was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate, as well as a condition known as complete heterochromia iridum, which means his eyes are two different colors. And as fate would have it, the stars aligned, connecting him to Moon.

“Last week, a friend posted an image of the cat in our cleft moms group. This kitty was taken in by a rescue group in Minnesota. We knew immediately that this kitty was meant to be part of our family. Not only does he have a cleft lip like our 7-year-old son Madden, he also has complete heterochromia iridum, like Madden. They were destined to be best friends. Funny how a pet can make you feel less alone,” said Christina Humphreys, mother of 7-year-old Madden Humphreys.

“I’m stunned at how this all played out. It sounds silly, but fate willed these two together. There’s no other explanation,” Christina added.

His cleft lip and palate have been corrected with surgery, but he still has a scar from the procedure, which his peers have a difficult time understanding, and therefore, according to his mother, he is the target of bullying.

"He wasn't [insecure] until other kids started pointing it out to him and then saying not nice things,” Christina told the Today Show.

She first wrote in a post for blogging site Love What Matters that the friendship was meant to be after a friend in a "cleft moms" Facebook group shared a picture of the cat, which led to national attention.

Madden also went viral in 2017 for an anti-bullying video he did with Owassoisms.
