ALBANY, N.Y. — The Capital City Rescue Mission welcomed anyone and everyone to an Easter mass and dinner Sunday, offering food and fellowship along with a little fun.

Organizers expected to serve more than two thousand meals and offer games and activities throughout the day.

For some volunteers, the day means sacrificing time with their own families for the chance to brighten someone else's day.

"There's too many lonely people in our area who are homeless, needy, and experiencing all kinds of difficulties,” said Perry Jones, the mission’s pastor. “This place is a place to help them get through them, as well as get to a new level."

Organizers from the Rescue Mission say they're hopeful that some of those who stopped by for the first time Sunday will return throughout the year, and maybe one day be on the other side of the serving line.
