This Sunday will mark the 36th year the Capital City Rescue Mission has provided Easter meals to people in need.

Preparations for the Easter banquet began Thursday morning inside the mission's kitchen.

Nearly 2,000 meals will be served, which calls for 700 pounds of ham and 400 pounds of potatoes. Along with the warm meals, children will be given Easter baskets.

It's a tradition that many look forward to each year.

“Just wonderful people coming through, Easter baskets for everybody, a worship service if they'd like to be there. Everything is just very festive,” said Capital City Rescue Mission Executive Director Perry Jones.

Dinner will be served from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

More volunteers are still needed to serve the meals. If you'd like to help, call 518-462-0459.
