ALBANY, N.Y. -- When the best women's college basketball teams in the nation come to town, it's sure to draw a lot of interest.

That includes a group who hopes to be on the same stage one day.

“Everything that they’re accomplishing is something that we look forward to doing,” said Olivia Owens, a former City Rocks player who's headed to Maryland this fall.

The Niskayuna senior says being exposure to this level of basketball helps her prepare for the division one level.

“Watching players like A’ja Wilson at South Carolina, like she plays the position that I’ll probably be playing so it’s just really cool to see that,” Owens said.

She was join by several of her former City Rocks teammates. Many say watching teams like South Carolina and UConn inspires them to reach that level of basketball in the future.

"Just the atmosphere is completely different from high school, it’s a lot more upbeat and fast pace,” said Sam Bailey, a junior from Grand Island.

Keith Danzy is the director of the City Rocks Girls' program. He say bring his players to these games will show them what it takes to compete at that elite level.

“Seeing where they could be in a few years if they put the hard work in and commit to this craft,” Danzy said.

The action continues Monday. South Carolina and UConn will face off in the Elite Eight. The winner heads to Columbus, Ohio for the Final Four.
