Cohoes firefighters were busy for a good part of the evening, battling a fire at a home on Continental Avenue.

It started around 5 p.m., and firefighters arrived to find heavy fire in the back of the building. It took firefighters about 40 minutes to douse the flames.

Mayor Shawn Morse says one person was home when the fire started, but they got out safely. He says a young couple had just moved into the second floor. The first floor was vacant.

The mayor says it appears the fire started in the back of the building, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
