DELMAR, N.Y. -- Students across the country are "kicking butts" by saying no to tobacco.

Eighth graders at Bethlehem Middle School were hard at work, educating classmates about the dangers of smoking. They were spreading a message about the dangers of tobacco products targeting younger groups.

Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control show 90 percent of adult smokers started before they turn 18.

Some students are hoping pharmacies stop selling tobacco items that look like candy.

“You go into that store looking for medicine or candy or something, and then you see something that looks like candy and you pick it up, and then all of a sudden you realize it's not and they shouldn't do that. They shouldn't be able to trick you,” said Sarah Nejame.

Students were encouraged to stop by a booth to learn more information about the products that are specifically targeting them.
