ALBANY, N.Y. -- The calendar may say spring, but there are still plenty of signs of winter. The state is looking to solve one of the more annoying reminders.

Crews are out trying to repair the numerous potholes in the road. They've begun using a new type of cold patch material they hope hold up longer. They use heat to keep it at a warmer temperature and then roll it out into the hole.

They'll be traveling throughout the area, working first on heavily traveled areas with the biggest problems.

Asphalt plants are still closed, so that's also a factor.

"Once the asphalt plants open up next month, hopefully next month, it gets warm enough and stays warm enough, we'll be able to do some more longer-term paving projects," says Bryan Viggiani, NYSDOT's public information officer.

Besides having a bit of patience, you're reminded to just travel a bit more carefully through construction areas.
