Hundreds join together in Albany to highlight the annual brain injury advocacy day.

The event was organized by the Brain Injury Association of New York State.

Organizers and those who took part aimed to bring awareness to problems with the Uniform Assessment System, which is the tool the state's medicaid program uses to determine brain injuries. They say the tool puts a focus on physical damages instead of cognitive ones. Those dealing with cognitive brain injuries say they need the help to have a quality life.

Advocates hope there can be an independently verified assessment tool put in place.
