SAN ANTONIO – People are being allowed to return home after being evacuated following a gas leak on the northside on Thursday afternoon. 

The gas leak is at the 2300 block of Nacogdoches Road. The leak was reported around 12:47 a.m. when a road maintenance crew hit a gas line while digging five feet under the roadway.

Local communities and businesses were evacuated by police on Nacogdoches Road between Danbury and Woodbury.

The Public Information Officer for the San Antonio Fire Department, Joseph Arrington, said 25 to 30 people were displaced. 

CPS Energy repaired the leak shortly after 3 p.m.
