Right now, the number of adults in New York smoking is the lowest in recorded history.

Statewide, 14 percent of adults were smoking in 2016. That's a 22 percent decline from 2011.

It also falls below the national average of 15.5 percent. Another low figure, only 4 percent of high school students are documented smokers.

The governor praises the state's anti-smoking initiatives as contributing to the low numbers.
