FORT ANN, N.Y. — The North Country’s community is a tight knit one, and that was clearly on display Sunday afternoon.

Parking spots were scarce at the Boar's Nest in Fort Ann, as people came in droves to support the grieving family of Skylar Wilson.

Wilson passed away in January after the car she was a passenger in hit a patch of ice. The 15-year-old is being remembered and money raised will go toward a scholarship in her name.

“A lot of these people just come out because they want to be a part of something and that's what I encourage everyone to do. Even if you can't donate, come out and just feel the love and support in the room and for four hours, this family can sort of put something else on the front burner rather than the pain and the anguish that they are going through,” says Jacque Ecuyer, the founder and director of 4S4Life, which organized the event.

Dozens of gifts were raffled, many of which were donated by local businesses.
