SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Two local businesses are teaming up to help those in Puerto Rico.

Relentless Awareness, a local public relations firm, and Slidin' Dirty in Schenectady hosted a fundraiser Wednesday night. Those who gave the recommended $25 donation or more received a free beer, wine or hard cider. There was also a silent auction, with 100 percent of the proceeds going toward Puerto Rico through the Hispanic Federation.

"We're just hoping that people recognize that this is not just a one and done, that the thing about Puerto Rico is everyday and whatever you can do to support that, whether it's food, clothing, money, help Puerto Ricans out," said Relentless Awareness Managing Partner Joe Bonilla.

"If we can get that word out and make people understand every little bit, every dime, every penny helps out, then I feel like we've accomplished something," said Slidin' Dirty owner Tim Taney.

If you can't attend but still want to help, you can write a check to the Unidos Disaster Relief Fund at 55 Exchange Place, 5th Floor, New York, NY 10005.
