Hudson Valley Community College is receiving a big boost in solar job training thanks to a large investment from Cypress Creek Renewables. The company provides solar solutions to communities across the United States.

On Wednesday, Cypress Creek invested in HVCC in an effort to reduce course fees and create more jobs in the industry.

The announcement comes just one day after President Donald Trump’s own solar-related news. Citing his commitment to defending American companies, President Trump says he will impose tariffs on all imported solar products.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle addresed what Trump's decision could mean for the industry, but also the opportunities these local partnerships could create.

“It's hard to say what the total impact will be across the board, but suffice it to say, if you’re adding costs to installing solar on this country, it's going to be an impact on consumers that will be negative," said Rep. Paul Tonko.

Cypress Creek also announced their plans to develop more than 750 megawatts in New York over the next three years, a local investment of more than $500 million and the creation of more than 1,500 local construction jobs.
